Dhansak and Brown Rice

Ingredients:

1 cup tur daal
1 tbsp moong daal
1 tbsp masoor daal
1 large onion
1 large tomato
1 tsp. garam masala
3 Kashmiri chillies - Capsicum
2 green chillies
1 tbsp. dhania powder
1 tbsp. jeera powder
4-5 pods of garlic
A small piece of ginger
A few methi leaves
Red Pumpkin
Some whole peppers, cloves and cardamom
 
Method:

Soak all the three dals for three to four hours. Fry the diced onion in oil till golden brown. Roughly grind the jeera powder, dhania powder, cloves, cardamom, ginger, garlic and green chillies and add to the onion and roast for a few minutes. Add tomato puree of one large tomato and the garam masala powder. Keep aside.

Meanwhile boil the dals with a few chopped methi leaves and a piece of red pumpkin. When the dals are well cooked beat them smooth and add the the above mixture. Mix well and boil again for 2-3 minutes. Serve with brown rice.

Brown Rice

Take one tsp. sugar and heat it. Add some fried onions, and spices like cloves, cardamom, cinnamon and bay leaves to the water.Cook required amount of rice in this water to get brown rice
