Promoted by the Cangans, a Catholic Family from Kanyakumari,
the Indian Institute of Rural Management is a registered,
Non-Govt., Non-Profit, Autonomous Institution, engaged in
research, consultancy, training & education in the areas
of management & rural development.
Operations Research & Consultancy :The institute offers
a wide spectrum of socio economic services and undertakes
applied research, development projects and transfer of know
how / technology for the benefit of organizations like
UNICEF, UNFPA, WHO, WORLD BANK, OXFAM, NORAD, SIDA.
Management Training & Development: IIRM is a well known
center for training personnel of central & state govt.,
international agencies, NGOs and private corporate sector.
Education : IIRM has emerged as a Centre of Excellence
in the field of education. Important landmarks have been:
1992-93, Faculty of Management Studies imparting Post Graduate
Diploma in streams of Business Management, Rural Management
& Information Technology was created. Diplomas are approved
by AICTE, HRD Ministry, Govt. of India.
Institutional Competencies
IIRM Jaipur was founded in the year 1988, in a country wide
survey of Business schools conducted by All India Management
Association(AIMA) & Marketing Develoement Research Associates
(MDRA) & Business Management Training institutions were
chosen out of 700 business management training institutions
after the qualifying round.Twenty institutions have been rated
as A+, (The Supreme Rating) & IIRM, Jaipur is among the
elite group.' Business India' a leading business magazine
,in its issue dated sept-oct 2000, has published the outcome
of the above survey.
IIRM is dedicated to promotion of rural management as a scientific
discipline in the country. The institute has been engaged
in operations & applied research in the area of rural
management with focus on rural marketing during the past twelve
years.IIRM is one of the select institutions in the country
which orgainses numerous short-term management trainings for
senior corporate executives,development administrators, health
management specialists, rural public system administrators
& corporate personnel engaged in rural marketing. The
institute is currently orgainsing tailor made short-term training
programmes on "Rural Marketing" for several leading
companies & their foreign collaborators.
Course Objectives:
The broad objective is to infuse essential competence among
the participants to effectively handle the rural markets.
The specific Objectivs are as follows:
A. To strengthen social marketing skill to address
"Rural Marketing"
B. To design various advertisement materials for rural
consumer.
C. to understand the emerging trends in rural distribution
channels & rural communication.
D. To understand the changed rural consumer behaviour
towards durbles & non-durbles.
Course Insight
(i) The course would provide neccesary inputs on social
marketing of goods & services for the rural consumers.
(ii) it would facilitate the trainees to work-out
the economics of rural advertisements against others &
develop suitable strategies to follow effective distribution
channels to make advertisement cost effective.
(iii) the course would also help the trainees to Alan's
rural consumer behaviour, supported by recent case studies
& simulation exercises.
(Iv) the course would also infuse in the participants
various aspects of rural communication,organization& management
of rural markets- stimulation ,motivation ,networking, &
organizing& management of rural dealers ,etc.
Besides the in-house Faculty specialising in rural marketing
,eminent practicing managers /professionals & consultants
from rural Marketing discipline have considered to contribute
in the training.
The city campus at Jaipur houses the central office, the
FMS & SMC. It is a huge multi- storied building located
in Mansarovar & developed on the lines of prestigious
management schools. It consists of air-conditioned conference
halls, lecture theaters, faculty rooms, mini auditorium, library,
computer center, bank, canteen , parking space etc. The IIRM
rural campus is a modern complex located in over 50 acres
of land, 38 kms away from the city campus and houses.
