Enigma of Arrival: Naipaul at Jaipur literary fest

Nobel laureate VS Naipaul would be the showstopper at Jaipur literature festival, 2012 edition. Organisers of the literary event said, "Naipaul has confirmed his participation in the Jaipur literature festival." More than 250 authors would be participating in the annual literary event that has been hailed as 'the greatest literary show on earth'.

The literature festival has hosted some of the most recognised authors of our times including Nobel winners, JM Coetzee and Orhan Pamuk. Several Booker winners like Salman Rushdie and Kiran Desai have also made to the festival in the past.

William Dalrymple, co-director of the festival said around 80 foreign authors would be participating in the five-day festival that begins on January 20. "We have with us, Michael Ondaatje winner of Man-Booker prize, Italian playwright Umberto Eco and Fatima Bhutto," Dalrymple said. Author Amy Chua, who was featured on the 'Times 100 most influential people in the world' this year, would also be in Jaipur for the event.

Like every year, the organisers are working on a new theme that would span across the festival schedule.
